The study of endoscopic sinus surgery in treatment of patients of different age with sinusitis

Objective To compare the treatment effect of endoscopic sinus surgery in middle-aged and elderly patients with sinusitis.Methods 82 patients with sinusitis in our department since February 2008 ～ February 2010 were divided into two groups:48cases in the elderly group and 44 cases in the middle-aged group were underwent endoscopic sinus surgery treatment and were followed up for 6 ～ 12 months,then the clinical efficacy and postoperative complications between the two groups were compared.Results The treatment effect of endoscopic sinus surgery in elderly patients with sinusitis was excellent too,and the rate of postoperative complications was lower,the difference compared with the middle-aged group was not statistically significant(P 0.05,P 0.05).Conclusion Endoscopic sinus surgery in treatment of elderly patients with sinusitis has excellent effect too and it is worth to promote.
