Discussion on Dialect Practice Translation——Reflection on Functional Equivalence Theory through Zhang's Translation of Tess of the D'urbervilles

Zhang Guruo,a famous Chinese translator,translated Tess of the D'urbervilles very brilliantly.In his translation,the Shandong dialect was adopted to translate the dialect in southwest England.Zhang's translation strategy was analyzed and the theory of functional equivalence was reflected.Chinese readers could have similar feelings as English readers through his version of translation and the fact that Zhang practiced his translation thoughts was proved which was similar to the functional equivalence theory in essence.
