Abstract
Based on a vehicle model and a road model, the feasibility of air spring substituting for coil spring in a MacPherson suspension was analyzed and the optimal matching characteristic for its damper in an Electronic-Controlled Air Suspension(ECAS) was studied. The results show that air suspension has a good performance in ride comfort by using a lower-cost shock absorber. The adjusted damper characteristic of the ECAS provides a theoretical basis for the further control strategy of the air suspension.
