Abstract

Objective To observe the effect of Star-1 combined with transarterial chemoembolization(TACE) in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC),and detect the serum level of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF).Methods 60 cases of HCC were divided randomly into combination therapy group(Star-1 +TACE)and single TACE group.Peripheral blood samples were collected pre-operation,on the 7th day and one month post-operation.The serum VEGF concentration was detected by ELISA in the two groups. Results In the combination therapy group, the difference of the serum VEGF concentration on the 7th day and one month post-operation was not significant compared with pre-operation level(P0.05).In single TACE group, the serum VEGF concentration was elevated on the 7th day post-operation compared with pre-operation level(P0.05).Then it decreased gradually one month after treatment, the difference was not significant compared with pre-operation level(P0.05).ConclusionStar-1 could obviously reduce the concentration of serum VEGF in HCC patients. It shows that Star-1 could inhibit tumor angiogenesis in HCC at certain degree.
