Abstract

The dry shrinkage, temperature shrinkage and freezethaw cycling resistance of cementstabilized and fly ashlime macadam base were compared through experiments, and the factors influencing the deformation properties of cementstabilized macadam base were investigated. The test results indicate that:(1) The dry shrinkage ratio and temperature shrinkage ratio of fly ashlime macadam base are much higher than that of cementstabilized macadam base;(2)The freezethaw cycling resistance of cementstabilized macadam base is better than that of fly ashlime macadam base;(3) The dry shrinkage, temperature shrinkage and freezethaw cycling resistance of cementstabilized macadam base is influenced by cement content, kinds and sizedistribution of the aggregate, etc. The relative mechanisms leading to the test results are discussed in the paper.
