Abstract
Objective:To explore the diagnosis and treatment methods of extreme lateral lumbar disc herniation. Methods:From 1998 to 2006,a total of 10 patients with far lateral disc herniation were treated. The clinical data of those patients were analysed retropective. Results:The use of open surgery for a nerve root canal lateral disc herniation all patients were followed for 1 to years, after nerve root compression symptoms improved significantly, all patients could return to normal daily life. Conclusion:A lateral disc herniation often involving the corresponding segments of the upper nerve root, clinical and medical imaging to be inconsistent with the high degree of suspicion, the use of CT scanning with thin disc imaging and MRI examination can be confirmed, conservative treatment was not recommended,Patients with lateralclisc herniation should be treated by operation as soon as possible,to avoid the nerve root cause irreversible lesions.
