Over the thirty years since China's reforms and opening to the world, the absolute poor population reduced with the rapid economic growth.But after 1985, the poverty reduction has had a tendency to slow down.The increasingly enlarged income disparity partially offset the achievements of poverty reduction made by economic growth.China is facing the new characters of poverty in the new era, such as the poverty headcount is still large, the distribution tends to marginalization and the phenomena of slip back to poor are severe.China's development in the future should strive to alleviate the income gap and raise the official poverty line, and establish and improve mechanisms focus on helping the poor and emphasis on protecting the environment, in order to further alleviate poverty.
