Types and Application of Reporter Gene in Molecular Biology

Reporter gene technology has been extensively applied in regulation of gene expression,analysis of promoter activity,signal transduction,identification of acceptors function,as well as in gene therapy,drug screening,etc.With the progress of technology and detection methods,new more sensitive and un-traumatic reporter genes have been developed,especially those which have no adverse effects on cyto-proliferation and can be detected in real time.The present paper reviewed the types,characteristics,applications and prospects of the reporter genes.
