Abstract

Objective To dicuss the Value of MR myelography(MRM) of whole vertebral canal basing on the scanalin in the diagnosis of disc disease. Methods forty patients were studied on a 3.0 T MR system. All of them were referred for conventional MR imaging of whole vertebral canal, also had MR myelography performed. Two experienced observers compared MRM with conventional spine MR using the following variables: visibility of thecal sac and nerve roots, and the presence, location and severity of disc herniation、spinal stenosis.Analyzing the findings with SPSS10.0 software. Results As regards to disc herniation, the sensitivity, specificity, and false negative proportion of MRM was 90%,100%,and 10%,respectively.Regarding nerve root compression, the sensitivity, specificity, and false possitive proportion of MRM was 100%,90%,and 0.7%,respectively.As regards to spinal stenosis, the sensitivity, specificity, and false negative proportion of MRM was 94.4%,100%,0.07%,respectively.Conclusion Basing on the scanalin MR myelography is an effective、fast、non-traumatic imaging technology of whole vertebral canal, improving the diagnosis rate distinctively.
