Abstract
Beginning by summarizing conception of suburbanization and dispute on its research in China, the author first reviews progress in suburbanization research of China since 1990s from the method and procedure, and research which has been made in the light of cities in China. Then, the author lays emphasis on prospect of further research from several aspects as follows: ①The fifth national population census and research on suburbanization; ②Research on seasonal suburbanization o f big cities; ③Research on expanding of urban social space; ④Research on the pluralistic mechanisms of suburbanization in viewpoint of macro, middle and micro levels; ⑤Extension of varieties of suburbanization; ⑥Diversification of city types and methods of research on suburbanization; ⑦Research on suburbanization of cities in a certain region.
