Abstract
Objective To investigate the changes in expression of tumor necrosis factor α(TNF-α) and interleukins 1β(IL-1β) and explore the role of inflammatory cytokines in the focal brain ischemia-reperfusion injury. Methods 20 Sprague-Dawley(SD) rats of either sex(weight 230 to 250 g) were randomly divided into two groups: sham group(n=10) and ischemia/reperfusion(I/R) group(n=10).Using a rat model of cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury, the changes in expression of TNF-α and IL-1β were observed with immunohistochemistry and content of Evans blue(EB) were examined with enzyme-reader.Results The levels of TNF-α and IL-1β and content of EB were successively inceased(P0.05),in the oschemia-referfusion group compared with those in the sham group. Conclusion The cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury is correlated with the increasing levels of TNF-α,IL-1β and EB content. The proinflammatory cytokines may participate in the onset and development of cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury.
