Abstract
Objective To investigate the status of general self-efficacy among undergraduate nursing students and analyze its influencing factors. Methods Cluster sampling of 117 undergraduate nursing students in a medical university were investigated with General Self-efficacy Scale(GSES) and the questionnaire about general information and influencing factors. Results The total score of GSES was 26.08±4.65,which was lower than the adult norm(t=-5.660,P0.01).There was no significant difference in general self-efficacy between males and females(t=2.452,P0.05) or between different levels of practice hospitals(t=0.480,P0.05).The factors influencing the students' general self-efficacy included individual character, interest in nursing, clinical teachers' encouragement and employment pressure(P0.01).Conclusion The level of general self-efficacy of undergraduate nursing students is not high, and it is influenced by individual character, interest in nursing, clinical teachers' encouragement and employment pressure.
