Abstract
Objective:To investigate preventive methods for vestibulocochlear nerve injury after microvascular decompression for hemifacial spasm.Methods:The clinical data of 80 hemifacial spasm patients from 2010.7 to 2012.7 were retrospectively analyzed.Among 80 patients,35 cases received classic surgical method;45 cases received improved surgery with neurophysiological monitoring and neuroendoscopic assist during operation.The incidence of vestibulocochlear nerve injury of 2 groups was compared after operation.Results:The incidence of vestibulocochlear nerve injury of improved group was 2.22%,which was significantly lower than control group(P0.05).Conclusions: Improved surgery with intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring and neuroendoscopy assist can reduce incidence of vestibulocochlear nerve injury after microvascular decompression for hemifacial spasm.
