Abstract

Matrix metalloproteinase 2(MMP-2) plays a key role in extracellular matrix degradation which is mediated by tumor cells. Its excessive expression is closely related with invasion, metastasis and prognosis of many malignant tumors. In recent years, many domestic and international studies have shown that gastric carcinoma with higher expression of MMP-2 has more ability of invasion and metastasis, and the patients have poorer prognosis. In this review,we summarized the relation between MMP-2 and invasion of gastric carcinoma, its active mechanism and impact factors.
