Comparison of rash reactions associated with Efavirenz and Nevirapine among AIDS patients

Abstract

Objective To compare the proportion that AIDS patients taking efavirenz or nevirapine suffered from rash reaction.Method To retrospectively collect and analyze the records of 1 034AIDS patients taking either efavirenz or nevirapine.Results The proportions of rash reaction associated with efavirenz and nevirapine were 9.26%(45/486)and 9.85%(54/548),respectively(P0.05),the average onset time of rash reaction was(13.20± 3.15)days and(18.83±6.68)days,respectively(P0.01).Conclusion Clinicians may provide timely diagnosis and treatment towards rash reaction according to prescription and onset time among AIDS patients.
