Abstract
Objective To explore the progress and outcome of surgical treatment for hepatolithiasis. Methods The clinical data of 157 cases(study group) with hepatolithiasis undergoing surgical treatment from January 2000 to December 2012 in our hospital, and that of 203 cases(control group) with hepatolithiasis undergoing surgical treatment from January 1985 to December 1999,were analyzed retrospectively. The treatment outcome of the the two groups were compared respectively. Results The residual stone rate of the study group(18.5%) was significantly lower than that of the control group(43.3%).The overall sufficient or complete remission rate in the study group was 89.6%,and 71.6% in the control group, the difference was statistically significant. The reoperation rates of the two groups were 5.7%,14.8% respectively, with significant difference. There was no significan difference of incidence of complications between the two groups. Conclusion The improvement of treatment outcome of hepatolithiasis is correlated with the changes of the disease evolution, the application of new techniques of diagnosis and treatment, and the expanded application of hepatectomy in the patients with hepatolithiasis.
