A Modern View on Dong Zhong- shu' s Aesthetic Thoughts

Dong Zhong-shu,the leader of the Confucianism in Han Dynasty,puts forward the proposition of Domination of Confucianism.Inheriting the Confucianism in the pre-Qin Dynasty,and creatively employing Yin-Yang Five Elements theory,he has constructed his philosophy and aesthetic ideology,Interaction between Man and Nature, and Unity between Heaven and Man,which has its far-reaching significance in the development process of Chinese feudal society for thousands of years.Dong Zhong-shu's aesthetic thought,as an integral part of his philosophy and political thought,serves for the realistic politics with a distinct utilitarian color.Its mystery of idealism is to be criticized,but we should also see his understanding of the relationship between man and heaven,which is the objective link and harmony between man and nature.It still has its referential significance today,when we are advocating to build a harmonious society,and practicing the scientific concept of development.
