Abstract
[Objective]To understand the distribution of death causes in Yunnan and provide scientific evidence for comprehensive prevention measures.[Methods]The major causes of death and life loss were found out with such indicators as mortality, constituent ratio of causes of death,Potential Years of Life Lost(PYLL),rate of Potential Years of Life Lost(rate of PYLL).[Results]Totally 39,014 death cases were reported during 2006—2008 and the mortality was 564.40 /100 000,male cases were more than female cases. The first five chief causes of death in order were respiratory diseases, injuries and toxicosis, cardiovascular diseases, malignant tumor and heart disease,by which cases of death caused accounted for 71.07% of total.Respiratory diseases, injuries and toxicosis and malignant tumor were the leading causes of loss of life.Suicide, accidental fall, traffic accident of motor vehicle, other accidents and harmful effects were the major constitution of injuries and toxicosis, which resulted in premature death of residents and death of the younger.[Conclusion]Chronic diseases are the chief causes of death, and injuries and toxicosis lead to the premature death of young adults in monitoring point.
