Abstract
The underwater glider is an autonomous underwater vehicle with the buoyancy-driven system. Its endurance could be accounted by months or years. The changes of energy of underwater glider when it dives and ascends are analyzed and the motion equations of glider are established in this paper. The hydrodynamic of an underwater glider with various velocities and attack angles are predicted by numerical calculation, and the hydrodynamic performances of glider are analyzed. These results would be helpful for design and control of the underwater glider.
