Abstract

The adsorption kinetics of titania coated palygorskite for golden-yellow BES was investigated. The kinetics data of the adsorption of golden-yellow BES were in good agreement with the pseudo-second rate equation as the initial concentration was between 150 mg/L and 300 mg/L,the agitation speed was 150 r/min and the experimental temperature was 298~328 K.The results show that golden-yellow BES is only adsorbed on the external surface of TiO2-coated palygorskite. The apparent adsorption activation energy is 25.25 kJ/mol.A relatively low apparent adsorption activation energy suggests that the adsorption of golden-yellow BES may involve not only chemisorption but also a physicial adsorption process, which is due to the combined control of chemical adsorption and film diffusion.
