Zhang Ai-ling's Emotional Regrets in Writing

Emotional regrets had great influence on Zhang Ai-ling's writing. In her childhood, she lived in a family without warmth; in her youth, she was disappointed in a love affair; then she and her family got behind with the times. All these contributed to the rebuilding of her new life experience and modes of conduct in the future. Lack of love became the regular psychological tendency in her life, which determined her pessimistic disposition leading to her pessimistic idea that nature of a human being was selfish, playing an important role in constitution of her thoughts and character and bringing about such strong leading tendency in the theme of her writing as a tragedy with characteristics of loneliness and desolation. Therefore, Zhang Ai-ling dealt with and represented the experience of modern life with her own thoughts and feelings.
