Five new species of muscidae (Diptera) from Western Sichuan, China

In this paper five new species of Muscidae are described from mountainous region of Western Sichuan Prov., collected during 1979～1999. All the type specimens are kept in the Medical Entomological Collection Gallery, lnstitute of Microbiology and Epidemiology, Academy of Military Medical Sciences, Beijing, China. 1. Myospila flavihumera, sp. nov. (Figs.1～7) ♂: Body length 6.0 mm～7.5 mm, ♀: Body length 6.0 mm～6.5 mm. The new species similar to Myospila flavibasis (Malloch, 1925), but differs from the latter in: Male: surstyli backward sinuous at apical part in lateral view; cerci flatted at apical margin in posterior view; 3rd and 4th tergites each with a median pollen stripe and deformed spots. Female: sixth tergite is a sclerite unseparated. Holotype ♂, Ya’an (Mt. Jinfeng, 860 m; 29°59′N, 102°56′E), Sichuan Prov., 03 Ⅰ 1994, collected by Feng Yan, paratypes 22♂, 4♀♀, various dates from Sep. 1993 to Jan. 1994, same locality as holotype; 1♂, Tianquan (Mt. Luoji, 1400 m; 30°03′N, 102°47′E), Sichuan Prov., 21 Ⅷ 1985, above same collector as holotype. 2. Myospila flavihumeroides, sp. nov. (Figs.8～15) ♂: Body length 6.0 mm～7.5 mm; ♀: Body length 6.0 mm～7.0 mm. This new species similar to Myospila flavihumera , sp. nov., but differs from the latter in: Male: notopleura without hairs; surstyli long and slender in lateral view; its length about 6.0 times of its width; postgonites shorter than phallapodema distinctly. Female: width of frons about 0.22～0.24 times head width at middle part; 6th tergite divided itself into a pair of sclerites in dorsal view; epiproct rather straight on apical margin. Holotype ♂, Ya’an (Mt. Laoban, 800 m; 29°59′N, 102°57′E), Sichuan Prov., 04 Ⅷ 1993, collected by Feng Yan; paratypes 8♂♂, 1♀, various dates in Sep. and Nov., 1993, same locality and collector as holotype; 9♂♂, 2♀♀, Ya’an (Mt. Jinfeng, 860 m; 29°59′N, 102°56′E), Sichuan Prov., various dates in Nov. and Dec., 1993, collector as holotype. 3. Phaonia daxiongi , sp. nov. (Figs.16～19) ♂: Body length 7.0 mm. This new species belongs to Phaonia angelicae subgroup, similar to Phaonia subemarginata Fang, Li et Deng, 1986, but differs from the latter in: interfrontalia obsoleted at middle part; ori 5 on the lower half of parafrontalia, length of cerci in male about 3.7 times of its width on middle part, which without outer projection at apical margin in posterior view. ♀: Unknown. Holotype ♂, Mt. Erlang (Yakou, 3100 m; 29°53′N, 102°10′E), Sichuan Prov., 21 Ⅷ 1984 collected by Yang shibin. Etymology: This new species Phaonia daxiongi is named in honour of Prof. Jin Da xiong from Guiyang Medical College for great contribution on the study of Medical Entomology and parasitology. 4. Helina aspidocerca, sp. nov. (Figs.20～23) ♂: Body length 7.0 mm. This new species similar to Helina laxifrons (Zetterstedt, 1860), but differs from the latter in: stpl 2∶2; cross vein m m with a short appendix; male cerci somewhat shield like, apical margin rather broadened in posterior view; hind tibia with 4 ad . ♀: Unknown. Holotype ♂, Mt. Erlang (Forest Farm, 2648 m; 29°54′N, 102°08′E), Sichuan Prov., 21 Ⅷ 1983, collected by Feng Yan. 5. Helina shijia, sp. nov. (Figs.24～28) ♂: Body length 7.5 mm. This new species similar to Helina cinerellioides Fang et Fan, 1992, but differs from the latter in: mid tibia with 2 p, 2 pv , hind tibia without densely and long bristly hairs on posteroventral surface; male cerci straight on lateral margins in caudal view; surstyli crescent like in lateral view. ♀: Unknown. Holotype ♂, Hanyuan (Mt. Jiaoding, 3550 m; 29°23′N, 102°51′E), Sichuan Prov., 22 Ⅵ 1987, collected by Li Guangshi.
