Abstract
Novel cyclotriphosphazene-tethered imidazolium salts were synthesized by quaternization of polycatenar imidazole mesogenic units which containing extended aromatic core,with hexakis-(4-chloromethylphenoxy)triazatriphosphinine.The mesophase behavior of such compounds was investigated.Imidazole mesogenic unit containing only one terminal chain gives rise to Smectic phases.While mesogenic unit containing three long terminal chains exhibits columnar mesophase.
