Technique Exploration of the Endoscopic Thyroid Surgery for Thyroid Tumors

Objective To explore the method and the clinic value of the endoscopic thyroid surgery for thyroid tumors.Methods It was retrospectively analyzed of the clinical data of 40 patients underwent endoscopic thyroidectomy via the anterior chest approach,including 23 cases suffered from thyroid adenoma,16 cases suffered from nodular goiter and 1 from papillary adenocarcinoma.Results The endoscopic thyroidectomy was succeeded in 38 patients.Two cases were converted to open thyroidectomy because of the 4 cm diameter and intraoperative-diagnosed papillary adenocarcinoma.1 patient occurred mild hoarseness and was recovered after one month.3 cases appeared cervical ecchymosis and disappeared after 7 days.And fat liquefaction was found in 2 cases' wounds.No permanent hoarseness,limb numbness,convulsions,nor other complications.No scar can be found in the neck and the patients were satisfied with the postoperative appearance. Conclusion Endoscopic thyroidectomy via the anterior chest approach is a convenient and effective method with good cosmetic results.
