Abstract

China is developing its own engineering education accreditation system with the goal to establish quality assurance system and promote international recognition for engineering education. This study discusses the progress and potential impact of building engineering education accreditation system in its initial period. It concludes that accreditation will support curricular and pedagogical improvement and other reforms in engineering education, motive higher education institutions to implement effective institutional quality assurance mechanisms, and promote collaborations between engineering education and the industry.
