Narrow-strip Conjunctival Cutograft for Treatment of Pterygium

Abstract

Objective To evaluate the efficacy of narrow-strip conjunctival autograft surgery in the treatment of pterygium. Methods 42 eyes of 38 patients were treated with surgical excision of the ptrygium and conjunctival transplantation with a narrow-strip technique. Results 33 of 36 eyes which were followed more than 12 months were free of recurrence. The recurrence ratio was 8.3%. Conclusion Narrow-strip conjunctival autografting appearsto be an effective surgical technique in preventing pterygium recurrence.
