Abstract
The lithologic reservoir has been regarded as the main exploration target in Bohai Gulf basin. There are many methods for lithologic reservoir exploration, which can be grouped mainly into three types, namely geologic method, seismic method and sequence stratigraphic method. Based on formation, evolution and sedimentation property of Dongpu Depression, combined with exploration requirements, the authors developed a new method for lithologic reservoir exploration, which is called fault analyzing method. Three sorts of models were also formulated, which have been applied in many areas with good effects. The method is based on the sedimentation controlling role of the structure and the better seismic recognition capability for fault than for sand body. Being easy to operate, this method can play a great role in further exploration for rift-subsidence basins.
