Abstract

Objective To evaluate the functioin of a new muti-functional device of thoracic cavity closed drainage system with animal experimental study. Methods Twelve dogs were randomly divided into experimental and control groups (n=6). They were treated with two kinds of thoracic cavity closed drainage system respectively after artificial hemopneumothorax. The time of thoracic cavity closed drainage, anti-tensile strength, and hemoglobin contents in peripheral venous blood before operation and after reinfusion were observed. Results The time of thoracic cavity closed drainage in experimental group was (44.67±8.89)s and that in control group was (451.67±63.56)s, there was significantly difference (P0.000 1). The anti-tensile strength of two devices in two groups were (55.17±0.71)N and (35.48±0.57)N (P0.05), respectively. The hemoglobin in experimental group was (106.33±9.56) g·L~ -1 averagely after autotransfusion and that in control group was (63.83±7.19)g·L~ -1 after transfusion with saline, there was significantly difference (P0.001). All animals were survived in experimental group, whereas 3 animals were survived in control group in a period of 24 hours. Conclusion The new device is more availability and convenient than existing system. The new one has autotransfusion function specially.
