Abstract
Objective:To detect the expression of heparanase in cervical cancer tissues to probe it's role in the development and angiogenesis of cervical cancer. Methods:The expression of heparanase and its microvessel density(MVD) in 62 patients with cervical caner, and 10 patients with normal cervix were detected by immunohistochemistry method. Results:The expression of heparanase protein in patients with cervical cancer(62.9%)was higher than its expression in patients with normal cervix(0%).The strong expression of heparanase in patients with cervical cancer correlated with their clinical stage, diameter of tumor and lymphnode metastasis. The micro vessel diameter increased gradually in patients with normal cervix and cervical cancer, they were respectively 11.33±2.38,42.97±9.99.The strong expression of heparanase was correlated with micro vessel diameters in patients with cervical cancer. Conclusion:Heparanase may play an important role in the development, metastasis and angiogenesis of cervical cancer.
