Abstract
Objective To evaluate the nasal vestibule plasty in the treatment of secondary nasal deformities after cleft lip repair. Methods From Jan. 1999 to Mar. 2004,94 patients were treated. The malpositioned tissue was completely released by the advancement, rotation, folding, and Z-plasty in the nasal vestibule. The repositioned tissue was reconstructed and remodeled.A nasal model was used for 3 to 4 months to avoid scar contraction. Results Marked improvememt was achieved in the appearance of nose and lip.The following-up period was 3~24 months. Conclusion The nasal vestibule plasty plays an important role in the correction of secondary nasal deformities after cleft lip repair, including restoration of malpositioned nasal cartilages and lateral crus, elevation of sill, correction of depressed alar. The additional incision at the nose and naso-facial sulcus can be also avoided.
