Abstract

A high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) technique was developed for determining residue of thiamethoxam insecticide in tomatoes. The sample was extracted by methyl alcohol, partitioned by dichloromethane. The residues were determined by photodiode array detection (PDA) at 250 nm. The results indicated that the recoveries were 83.4% to 92.1% at the fortification levels of 0.05 to 1.0 mg/kg. The coefficients of variation ranged from 2.06 % to 2.94%, the detection limit was 0.05 mg/kg.
