Abstract
Objective To explore the diagnosis and microsurgical treatment of cystic acoustic neuromas. Methods From December 2004 to December 2007,35 patients with cystic acoustic neuromas were analyzed retrospectively. Results Total resection of the tumor was achieved in 31 cases, and subtotal resection in 4 cases.Anatomic preservation of facial nerve was achieved in 30 cases, and functional preservation of facial nerve(H-B grading Grade Ⅰ-Ⅲ)was preserved in 22 cases.Auditus was preserved only in 2 csaes. No patients died.Follow-up study(range from 12 months to 48 months, mean of 23.7 months) was available in all patients. There were excellent outcomes during follow-up period in this group. Conclusion It is very important of learning the pathological anatomic relationships among acoustic nerve, facial nerve and the tumor and mastering microsurgical technique of totally resecting tumor and preserving the facial nerve.
A significance statement is not available in the OpenAlex record.
