Abstract
The concentrations, composition and seasonal variation of chlorophyll along eastern Guangdong coastal waters were discussed according the data of the fishery water ecology environment research from the august,1997 to the may, 2003. It's showed that the average concentration of chlorophyll along eastern Guangdong coastal waters was 6.45 mg/m~3 with the highest concentration in Zhelin Bay (9.12 mg/m~3) and the lowest concentration in Daya Bay (3.61 mg/m~3). The chlorophyll concentrations in Kaozhouyang waters and Pearl River estuary have some seasonal/yearly difference, while the seasonal variation of chlorophyll concentration in Daya Bay and Honghai Bay waters was small. The chlorophylla was the major composition of total chlorophyll with the percentage 60~80%, the percentage of chlorophyll b and c were 7%~24% and 6%~19%, respectively. The chlorophyll concentrations and seasonal variation in the research waters was related with the concentration of nutrition, the water temperature and other physical and chemical factors. The variation of chlorophyll composition was related with the growth state, community structure of phytoplankton and the variation of environmental factors.
