The relationship between family history of diabetes and gestational diabetes mellitus

Abstract
Objective: To inquire into the incidence on relationship between gestational diabetes mellitus(GDM) and family history of diabetes.Methods: During Dec.2004~Sep.2005,50g oral glucose screening test(GST) was taken to 26~30 weeks pregnant women in Tianjin,896 of them were positive;OGTT was taken for them,among which,367 person were GDM,and further investigation were made to them on family history of diabetes.Results: Family history of diabetes was the risk factor to GDM.The incident of having family history of diabetes was 31.88% in the women with GDM.It was more influential for the inheritance from mother and grandmother than that from father and grandfather.Conclusion: Family history of diabetes is the risk factor to the GDM,and influence from mother is greater than that from father side.
