Differential Diagnosis of Thrombus in Portal Vein System from Cancer Embolus by CT

Objective To investigate the CT images of thrombus in portal vein and describe its features and summarize further discrimination with cancer embolus.Method Eight portal vein thrombus cases and ten liver cancer cases confirmed by therapy and with CT were analyzed retrospectively.Result In eight cases of thrombus embolism,four cases occurred in trunk vein,four cases in right branch,three cases in left branch,five cases in spleeny vein and superior mesenteric vein.Conclusion On the basis of position and shapes features of thrombus,CT can help to improve the accurate diagnosis of the portal vein embolism and cancer embolus.
