Abstract
The principle and requests of the proton exchange membranes (PEMs) for direct methanol fuel cells (DMFCs) were discussed. The structure and properties of Nation as well as the disadvantages of Nafion for DMFCs were introduced. The progress in modification of Nafion for DMFCs was also reviewed. In addition, the application of Nafion and modified Nafion membranes was reviewed.
