Research of a novel static var compensator used for power system voltage stability

A novel static var compensator based on PWM technology was introduced.Voltage stabilization of power systems by using a novel static var compensator was studied and operation situation under a small or a big interference was analyzed.The novel static var compensator can effectively control power system voltage and has a great sustentation for power system voltage in the normal work condition.The compensator possesses following features: easy to control,simple structure,high response speed,etc.The simulation study of effects of open and close loop controls for the novel static var compensator with a single machine to an infinite bus system verifies that this compensator can maintain the voltage at the setting up point and improve power system voltage stability.
