Abstract
The transmission loss of perforated tube silencer with flow was predicted using a new perforation acoustic impedance model and three-dimensional finite element method, and measured also by dual-load method in the silencer test bench. The results of model prediction agree with the measured well, which shows that the new perforation impedance model is suitable for the prediction of acoustic characteristics of perforated tube silencers with flow. From the transmission loss results,it can be concluded that the acoustic characteristics of perforated tube silencer are influenced by gas flow greatly. With growing of the gas flow Mach number, the frequency band of sound attenuation tends to moving into higher frequency side, meanwhile, the transmission loss at pass-by frequency and in high frequency range is growing obviously.
