Abstract

[Objective] The paper was conducted to compare the contents of isoflavone and puerarin in Kudzu root extract with different solvents.[Method] The contents of isoflavone and puerarin were determined by UV spectrophotometry and RP-HPLC.[Result] The contents of isoflavone and puerarin from the Kudzu root extract with different solvents were different. The content of isoflavone was the highest in the 60% alcohol extract, and reached 46%;the content of puerarin was the highest in acetone extract, and reached 0.32%.[Conclusion] The contents of isoflavone and puerarin extracted by five solvents were different, and 60%ethanol or acetone showed the best effect on the extraction of isoflavone and puerarin from Kudzu root.
