Abstract
phenanthroline-5,6-dione has been synthesized and characterized by UV,FT-IR and NMR. The results indicate that we have obtained the 1,10-phenanthroline-5,6-dione. Meantime we use the bond order principle to study the thermal decomposition mechanism of the 1,10-phenanthroline-5,6-dione. We found that this method is reliably and can be used for some other derivatives of 1,10-phenanthroline.
