Abstract

Objective To study the influence of chemotherapy on apoptosis level in peripheral blood monocytes of patients with malignant tumors. Methods Apoptosis level in peripheral blood monocytes was measured and compared before and after chemotherapy on patients with malignant tumors. Results Apoptosis level of chemotherapy patients was higher than that of no chemotherapy patients(9.60%±9 50% and 0.31%±0.26% respectively, P 0 01).Exept for testicle cancer, the apoptesis level in peripheral blood monocytes of patients with various tumors after chemotherapy went up significantly ( P 0 05 or P 0 01) Conclutions Chemotherapy of tumors may induce the increase of apoptosis level in peripheral blood monocytes of patients with malignant tumors. This result indicates that the change of apoptosis level may regarded as an indication of tumor chemotherapy reaction.
