Abstract
In this paper,a characteristics finite volume method is considered for the initial-boundary-value problem of the convection dominated diffusion equation and the error analysis of the solution of the characteristics finite volume scheme is given.Theoretical analysis and numerical experiment indicate that the method is effective and has optimal order error estimates in L~2 and H~1 norm.
