Observations on the Efficacy of Abdominal Acupuncture plus Massotherapy for Treating Nerve Root-type Cervical Spondylopathy

Abstract

Objective To investigate the efficacy of abdominal acupuncture plus massotherapy for treating nerve root-type cervical spondylopathy.Methods Eighty patients were randomly allocated to treatment and control groups,40 cases each.The treatment group received abdominal acupuncture plus orthopedic manipulation and the control group,cervical spinal traction plus orthopedic manipulation.Results The short-term and long-term cure rates were(90.0%) and(80.0%),respectively,in the treatment group and(70.0%) and(55.0%),respectively,in the control group;there was a statistically significant difference between the two groups(P(0.05)).Conclusion Abdominal acupuncture plus orthopedic manipulation has both short-term and long-term curative effects on nerve root-type cervical spondylopathy.
