Abstract
In this study, the apoptosis of BHK-21 cells induced by Foot-and-mouth disease virus(FMDV)was reported. The methods of MTT,fluorescence staining of Hoechst 33258,TdT-mediated dUTP nick-end-labeling(TUNEL),flow cytometry and strand-specific real-time RT-PCR were used to assay the inhibitory effects of FMDV on the growth of BHK-21 cells, the morphological features of apoptotic cells, the apoptosis apex, the cell cycle and the RNA product of replication system in cells respectively. The results showed that FMDV could inhibit the growth of BHK-21 cells, induce apoptosis apex and the cell cycle was held back at G1/G0 phase,in addition, the apoptosis rate increased in dose-dependent as well as time-dependent manners and presented some relationship with the RNA product of replication system in BHK-21 cells. This work founded a platform for the mechanism study of apoptosis induced by FMDV.
