Feng Youlan's Historical Materialist Orientation in Academic Thought in the 1930s

The 1930s saw in Chinese academic circle the surge of historical materialism which directly laid basis for the academic thought of Feng Youlan.His three works, The History of Chinese Philosophy,The Historical Philosophy of Qin and Han Dynasties and On New Things ,embody his historical materialist orientation concerning the ideas of philosophical history,historiography and culture.The fact that Feng followed historical materialism in the 1930s sheds much light on our reflections of academic history and the current academic context.
