Abstract

Objective To investigate the effectives of maxillary protraction treatment in skeletal Class Ⅲ malocclusion with crowding. Methods 16 patients with skeletal Class Ⅲ malocclusion with crowding in early permanent dentition were included. These patients were consecutively treated with two phase.Lateral cephalometric radiographs were used to quantify the skeletal and dental changes before treatment(T1),after maxillar protraction(T2)and after treatment(T3).T-test was assessed to compare significant difference between the three groups. Results The results indicated that SNA angle,ANB angle, mandibular plane angle and LI/NA showed a significant increase, while UI/NA showed significant decrease. No significant differences were founded in other indicators. Conclusion Rapid maxillary expansion and face mask protraction, then the extraction premolar therapy was effective in the orthopedic treatment for patients with skeletal class III malocclusion with crowding.
