Revolution of General Education and Cultivation of Harmonious College Students

The construction of harmonious culture and society advanced by the 17th CPC Congress depends on the harmonious development of high quality college students equipped with both scientific and humane knowledge. The harmonious development of college students depends on the balanced development of professional education and general education. Due to the ideological and historical reasons , the curriculum of higher education in China have been putting stress on professional education instead of general education, thus leading to the imbalanced development of professional education and general education, and the narrow range of knowledge, weak comprehensive abilities and poor humane quality. The sustainable development of both individuals and country will be restricted by the poor humane quality. In addition, the curriculum's lack of global perspective cannot fully satisfy the needs demanded by the integration of China's economy into global economy. This paper aims at expressing my personal views on the problems existing in general education, the support system of the implementation of general education and the internationalization of the curriculum of general education, hoping that it would be helpful to the revolutionary advance in China's general education.
