Abstract
OBJECTIVE To rapidly induce Crocus sativus callus taking corm as explant.METHODS The effects of corm source, various medium, temperature, light, and plant hormones on the inducing Crocus sativus callus were systematically and extensively investgated.RESULTS The Crocus sativus corm callus was rapidly reduced within 14 days at (21±0.3)℃,in darkness by taking the corm of 2 cm diameter around shoot as explant,MS as medium,2.0 mg·L -1 2,4-D 0.25 mg·L -1 6-BA as plant hormones and the inducing rate reached 60%.CONCLUSION The explant and the plant hormones were the key factors for callus induction.
