Correlation of Life Events,Coping Styles,and Family Function of Schizophrenia Adolescents

Objective To explore the relation of life events,coping styles and family function of schizophrenia adolescents.Methods A total of 53 schizophrenia adolescents were investigated by using Adolescent Self-rating Life Events Check-List(ASLEC),Trait Coping Style Questionnaire(TCSQ) and family APGAR index.Results Accordingly,67.92% of schizophrenia adolescents had impaired family function.Adolescents with different family functions achieved statistically significant total score of ASLEC and score of the punishment factor(P0.05 for both).Scores of passive coping styles had significantly negative correlation with scores of partnership and resolve(P0.05 for both).There were significantly negative correlation between total scores of family APGAR index and total scores of ASLEC(P0.01).Conclusion The life events and coping styles of schizophrenia adolescents are associated with family function.Patients should be given psychological interventions and their family members should be educated to improve family function for better treatment.
