Study on the Allelopathy of the Aqueous Extract of Ginkgo to Wheat

Abstract

[Objective] The impact of the extract from ginkgo on the rate of seed germination root length and seedling height of wheat was researched. [Method] The wheat seeds treated with distilled water being taken as CK,the principle of the different concentrations of aqueous extract of ginkgo affecting the wheat growth was experimented and the growth of wheat seedling was assessed with the effect index(RI) and the average effect index(RM). [Results] With the concentration-increasing of the extract from ginkgo,the rate of wheat seed germination,the root length of seedling and the height of seedling and fresh weight of wheat were significantly inhibited,in which the largest inhibition was to root length of wheat(MR=-5.187); With the concentration-increase of treatment,the seedling dry weight showed an increasing trend,but the trend was not clear. The order of the treatment affecting wheat growth was as follows:root length seedling height fresh weight dry weight. [Conclusion] The allelopathy of the extract from ginkgo to wheat growth was the inhibition generally and the higher the concentration was,the stronger the inhibition was. Thus,in interplant,the allelopathy among crops should be fully considered.
